Danzibar: IIRC the Sony format is proprietary. Canon uses more standard HDV format. Easier to import/export. Not sure how much that's changed in last year.2 Feb 09, 19:45
Danzibar: HDD vs MiniDV depends on preference and application. I'm skipping HDD and waiting for Solid State drives (like a big USB flash drive). No moving parts, low power consumption.2 Feb 09, 19:35
Danzibar: Used an HV30 when it first came out. Great picture, except low light. Bad sound. Viewfinder is fixed so you have to press nose against batt and hard to block out light, but LCD is good in daylight.2 Feb 09, 10:39
